Most people follow a regular weight loss program incorporating diet and exercises for gradual weight loss and maintenance. However, if you have an emergency like a banquet or marriage coming up in a month’s time, then you would want to lose weight quickly within 3 to 4 weeks. While it sounds impossible to lose 15 lbs within 3 weeks, it is actually not so if you follow some simple guidelines.

The first thing to keep in mind is the food you eat. You must include the correct foods in your diet; foods that boost your metabolism and encourage your body to burn those fat cells faster. Never skip your breakfast. This is the first major meal of the day and kick-starts your metabolism which aids in burning the fat cells. Eating a healthy meal first thing in the morning also reduces your propensity to snack later in the day.

Your meals can include calcium rich dairy products like skimmed milk and low-fat yoghurt, fruits and dark green vegetables, lean meats like beef, turkey and chicken, fish, eggs, avocadoes, oats, brown rice and nuts. Eat fruits or vegetables raw before your main meal. Your body needs to work more to digest the raw food which means it needs more calories, which is obtained by burning the fat cells. So, if you eat raw food at least four times in a day before each meal, your dreams of losing weight faster becomes a reality. Additionally, the enzymes in the raw fruits and veggies help to flush out the toxins from your body making your look healthier and leaner. Avoid canned or dried fruits or fruit juices and of course; alcohol.

Eating frequently also helps you lose weight faster. Eat in small portions at least every three or four hours. This compels your body to assimilate the food faster which boosts your metabolic rate and burns the fat quickly. Include at least 1 liter of ice cold water in your daily diet as this helps in weight loss. Though this may sound preposterous but the fact is that once that ice cold water is inside you, your body needs more calories to quickly heat up the water to your normal body temperature; thus burning more fat cells in the process.

Exercising is another compulsory strategy to follow if you want to lose 15 lbs in 3 weeks. Along with the correct diet, you have to exercise minimum thrice a week for at least an hour to see the results. Select the exercise regimen with care as it has to be high intensity workouts. Include cardiovascular exercises, aerobics, swimming or team sports. However, if you cannot do such rigorous exercises for any reason, just jogging or biking for an hour around your neighborhood is a good idea.

Above all, stay motivated and be consistent in your efforts. The trick to weight loss is to consume fewer calories than your body can burn. There are several calorie calculators available online. Keep a printout of such a calculator at hand to help you calculate your calorie intake for each meal. Remove carbohydrate-rich foods like pasta, rice, bread and sugar. Since your target is short term weight loss, you can always go back to your normal food once you have lost all the weight you wanted to lose. Get enough sleep. A tired body means a sluggish metabolism which impedes your weight loss efforts.
